A letter from daddy for Tiara

And all of a sudden our little baby girl is 6 months old! Wow!
When Timmy was 6 months old daddy wrote his monthly update and so now I want to write yours too Tiara.

The last six months were really a stretch for your parents Tiara. With you being only 15 months younger than Timmy we’ve had our hands full. Sometimes we (especially mama) felt like it’s too much and we can’t handle this anymore. Mama is the one that really feels the weight of it because she needs to take care of both you and Timmy by herself when daddy’s at work. You have been such a blessing though Tiara because you slept a lot and were so content. That’s one of the big reasons why we didn’t actually have to go looking for help. I remember I often told mama that I feel indebted to Tiara. 
You being content and happy was part of the reason that we were able to keep our sanity those first few months. Now that you are changing I still often remember that. Like 2 days ago when I was holding you at 2:00 in the morning because you wouldn’t go back to sleep I remembered how you used to sleep through the night from the time you were barely a month old. I remembered how you would be patient with mama when she had to take care of Timmy first even though you needed her attention too and I found it hard to get impatient with you.

The sixth month of your life was a month of lots of changes and milestones for you. You are no longer that contented little baby that slept so much and then spent hours lying on her back happy to take life as it came. We enjoyed that time but we wouldn’t want you to be like that forever. It’s always amazing to me to see the determination of a baby.   
You’re never satisfied with what you can do already but you’re always trying something new and going to the next level. This month you became a lot more mobile. You scoot all over the floor and you even started crawling some on the bed. One of your favorite things to do right now is to try to pull yourself up to a standing position.

 You even managed to get it done a few times to our amazement. Another new achievement this month was sitting by yourself. 

 

The sixth month is also the month that mama has set to start solid food. You almost couldn’t wait! You already wanted to put everything in your mouth. The first time mama tried to feed you, you grabbed the bowl with both hands and started sucking the edge. You seem to have a big interest in food which we are so thankful for. Right now it seems you would rather have something like celery, an apple, papaya or a banana in your hand to suck on rather than eat the baby food that mama prepares for you but you are doing fairly well with eating.

One of the bad habits you have right now is getting up again and again during the night and wanting to play and be breastfed. There’s no way mama can take care of two children all day and then be up 5 times a night to feed you. The last few night we are starting to let you cry till you go back to sleep. It’s not easy to do that. There’s something about hearing a little girl cry that is so much harder for me than it was when we were training your brother to sleep by himself.

     It’s so much fun seeing you starting to interact with Timmy. You two have already bonded strongly. Timmy likes to look after you to make sure you’re ok and you just love watching Timmy.
   

Most of the times I heard you laugh out loud so far,you were laughing at Timmy. I love those times when I’m holding you and Timmy is running around. When Timmy runs by you usually laugh, sometimes even scream with delight. Timmy catches on that he can make you laugh and plays his part well.

                 You really look a lot like your mama Tiara.

Almost wherever we go people say “muan mee” which means you look like your mom. Then they look at Timmy and say “muan pho” which means Timmy looks like his dad. That always makes your parents happy :)
 

Tiara, you are a beautiful gift from God! Mama and I are so blessed to have the awesome privilege to be your parents. We want our home to be a safe place for you to grow up to be a young woman. As your father, I will do everything I can to protect you and answer your needs. You are a treasure that I always want to value and love deeply. I cannot promise that life will be easy for you. Actually it probably won’t be but then again that’s not really what you need. I do promise that I will be here for you. I will love your mama too so that we have a secure family for you to grow up in. Also I will introduce you to your Creator and Savior and encourage you to enter His spiritual family. You are dearly loved Tiara.
